Table – AF164

An antique French Louis XVI period carved and painted wooded centre table with marble top

The four tapering fluted legs are carved with swags of bellflowers and pearl beading, these terminate on acanthus toupee feet. Laurel arabesques with winged putto and oval centre paterae decorate the frieze. The legs are joined by a X-stretcher frame with flame finial neo-classical urn in the centre.

The thick and moulded edge top is original to the table, material is Italian Arabescato marble.

This table is in original unrestored condition with great patina and time soften colours.

Leather sofa – AF165

A George III style Chesterfield wingback bench sofa upholstered with brown leather and on mahogany supports

Made in the classic English Georgian taste with rolled arms and fully devolved wings in an hourglass profile. The leather is beautifully aged along with the original brass tack nail-heads. The settee is supported by square reeded legs conjoined by a H-shaped stretcher.

An Irish antique George III period statuary marble fireplace, attributed to George and Hill Darley, Dublin

The tall elegant pilasters with finely carved neo-classical ornament. 

The centre plaque is extremely well carved.

In the additional images section note the original drawing from the 1790’s by George and Hill Darley with identical jambs.

Antique fireplace 19284

An Irish antique Statuary marble fireplace, from the late Georgian/William IV period

This fireplace was produced in Dublin during the 1830’s, from the finest imported Italian statuary Carrara marble. The exquisitely carved centre tablet depicts Clio, the muse of epic poetry and history, in a reclining position with a globe and open book under her left arm and the word HISTORY written on a canvas by her right hand. At either side of the centre tablet are raised and fielded frieze panels. Elegant acanthus decorated corbels above moulded pilasters, support the mantel shelf.

A large antique mid 19th century marble fireplace with free standing columns

Produced in England during the 1850’s from fine Italian pencil veined Statuary Carrara marble.

The fireplace features a wide moulded shelf over an arched opening with centre keystone and jambs with full rounded, free-standing columns on socles and plain plinths.

Blue & white pottery – 19495

An exceptional antique glazed blue and white pottery fireplace by Ulisse Cantagalli, Italian designer of lustre ware and pottery

The jambs with female caryatids supporting the break-fronted frieze. The frieze decorated with laurel arabesques and two griffins flanking a centre cartouche.

An identical fireplace is installed at Cantagalli’s cousin’s villa in Italy, and another one in Villier Hall, a large English country house decorated in Italian style.

This wonderful mantlepiece was exhibited at the world exhibition of 1885 in Antwerp Belgium, it was on display at the Cantagalli company stand.

Marble – 19490

An Exceptional Irish George III period white marble mantlepiece with finely carved tablets and inlaid coloured marble panels.

This fine neoclassical antique fireplace of Italian statuary marble is inlaid with Pietra Dura specimens of Sienna, Verde Antico, Spanish Brocatelle and Kilkenny Black.

The classical lidded urn centre tablet is typical of the Darley workshop as are the musician instrument corner blockings.

A tall and robustly carved George II style pine chimneypiece in the manner of William Kent

The acanthus decorated frieze with female mask at centre is under an egg and dart cornice shelf. The side scrolled consoles carved with acanthus, acorns and oak leaves are attached to a wide aperture moulding decorated with egg, dart, flower, shell and dart motifs. 

A lovely colour and in great condition.

Supplied with slate slips which can be replaced by coloured marble if preferred.
