Pair of Mirrors – AF207

A striking pair of giltwood pier mirrors, finely executed in the exuberant Chippendale Rococo Revival style

Each mirror features a tall rectangular plate surrounded by an elaborate carved and gilded frame, richly ornamented with scrolling acanthus leaves, C-scrolls, floral motifs and pierced rocaille work. The impressive openwork crests and scrolling lower sections give the pair an elegant, highly decorative silhouette.

The original-style gilded surfaces retain a beautifully aged patina, while the mirror plates show attractive foxing and age-related spotting, giving them considerable character and authenticity.

With their impressive scale and wonderfully decorative quality, these mirrors would make a superb statement displayed as a pair in a drawing room, entrance hall or above a pair of console tables.
