Pair of tables – AF200

An antique pair of early 18th century style oak console tables with ‘Grand Antique’ marble tops

The fluted frieze with rope twist and egg and dart mouldings.  The legs with ionic capitals, draped swags, scallop shells and plinth feet.

Circa 1880

Grand Antique marble, from the Pyrenees Mountains, is renowned for its naturally occurring stark black-and-white contrast. It’s been in demand among the elite as early as antiquity. The Romans quarried it for centuries, and it’s featured in St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, as well as Joseph-Napoléon Bonaparte’s tomb.
