A late 18th century North Italian, polychrome decorated, painted neo-classical style mirror

Its architectural frame features a projecting cornice, classical mouldings and a Greek-key border surrounding the original mirror plate.

Dark painted side panels are decorated with elegant urns, flowers and scrolling foliage in muted red, green and gold, complemented by a flowing ribbon motif across the upper frieze. The broad base has a decorative faux-marble finish.

Weathered gilding, softly worn painted decoration and beautifully foxed glass give this substantial mirror a rich antique character—an imposing centrepiece above a fireplace or console table.
