Dog grate – AG192
A large and rare 18th century Chippendale style, brass and steel dog-grate or fire basket
With extremely fine priced and engraved brass work, executed during the 1760’s.
The plain square fireback above a three bar serpentine grate with brass finials.
The pierced serpentine apron with leaf and flower arabesques and brass bead edging.
The square column supports decorated with ho-ho birds and foliate scrolls, surmounted by large urn finials.
