A large scale matching pair of antique French Louis XVI style fireplaces, made in desirable Breccia di Seravezza marble

The deep moulded shelf rests on a fluted frieze with carved paterae end-blocks, this above fluted and scrolled console jambs.

The marble was cleverly cut in an eye-pleasing manner, with the veins running in the same direction. 

Removed from a centre of Paris property in 1991, been in storage since then.

Extremely rare to find fireplaces made in this material and to this large size, these were probably in adjoining rooms or even the same room.

In excellent condition, having no breaks.
