A large antique French Louis XVI fireplace surround, made in ‘Royal des Ardennes’ marble

The jambs with fluted scrolled console’s under carved floral end-blocks, the fluted frieze steps forward, as does the deep moulded edge mantel shelf.

This type of ‘Royal Ardennes’ marble with its warm neutral earthy tones was uncommonly used during the 19th century in fireplace production, making this a rare find.
