White Marble – 19588
A fine antique Rococo revival statuary marble chimneypiece
The moulded serpentine shelf rests above a curved and panelled frieze, centred by a laurel cartouche. The beautifully carved console jambs are decorated with C-scrolls, hanging bellflowers, and scrolling acanthus leaves.
Made in Scotland during the 1830’s,.
British Rococo chimneypieces tend to be taller and slender than their continental counterparts, also rarer and much more sought after.
