An antique George III period Statuary and Sienna marble mantelpiece

The jambs are in the form of plain pilasters fronted by full rounded and free standing Sienna marble columns, these with white marble ionic capitals and plinths. A continuous Sienna marble frieze with white marble floral paterae over the corners, is interrupted by a well carved centre tablet, this depicts a scene from Greek mythology ‘Europa and the bull’. A finely sculpted dental cornice shelf rests top.
