Baroque Fireplace – 18171

A late 17th century English Baroque period Statuary marble fireplace

The substantial Bolection style frame with slight arched opening and floral decoration in the corners.

Circa 1700

An almost identical pair to product 18170, slight difference in size.

Provenance: Down Ampney House

Down Ampney House is situated in the Cotswold district, Gloucestershire, England. Described by Leland in “Journey through Wiltshire” of 1540-42, later altered by Sir John Soane c.1799. It was built for the Hungerford family, in there possession from 1361 (earlier manor house built on site c1270) until 1658. Featured in Country Life magazine, Volume XLII, October 1917.
