Palladian Fireplace – 19308
An antique green Verde Antico and white statuary Carrara marble fireplace in the Palladian style
Large in scale and wonderfully proportioned. The substantial dentil cornice rests on a Verde Antico frieze with two scrolled bracket corbels. The fireplace opening is framed by a wide architecture moulding with dog-leg shape shoulders.
Circa 1880
Provenance: Englethwaite Hall, Cumbria
Built by John Thomlinson in 1879 and demolished in 1969, the site now being the location of a caravan campsite. Ryan & Smith have recently bought six period fireplaces including this one, which were removed from the house by the owner and put into storage, prior to it being demolished.
